Pride of Place: Grassroots Expressions of Nationalism in Moroccan Cities and the Visual Vocabularies of Vehicle Decoration
_Pride of Place_ contains analyses of truck and taxi decoration in Morocco. The vehicle decoration is presented within the contexts of historic to contemporary fine and popular arts and visual cultures, which are understood as expressions of self, community, and/or nationalism. Vehicle artwork is juxtaposed with contemporary socio-political and economic circumstances. The author presents a way of inserting contemporary visual cultures in studies of civil society, human rights, participatory democracy, and the right to free expression codified in law, practiced, or performed. _Pride of Place_ contains photographs and oral histories the author conducted since 2012. (Second Edition is much expanded and revised from the first edition, March 2015).
